Where to eat in Mira
We sit between the ocean and the lagoon, so fish rules. Instead of listing names that change from season to season, here's what to look for — and at check-in we'll give you our current picks, including where we go ourselves.

On the seafront
The terraces by the sand live on fresh grilled fish: sea bass, bream, mackerel, sardines in summer. Ask for the catch of the day and take your time — lunch here is never rushed.
Regional dishes not to miss
- Fish caldeirada, slow-cooked the way it's done on this coast.
- Eels, fried or in sauce, from the lagoon area.
- Seafood rice, almost always for two.
- Bairrada suckling pig, a short drive away.
- Regional convent pastries and ovos moles from Aveiro.
In Mira village
The village, minutes from the house, has small neighbourhood restaurants with daily specials at friendly prices — usually cheaper than the beach and full of locals, always a good sign. There are also supermarkets, a bakery and a market if you'd rather cook at home.
Cooking at West Gold
The kitchen is fully equipped and there's a barbecue outside. Many guests buy fresh fish in the morning and grill it in the garden at the end of the day. It is, without a doubt, one of the best evenings you can have here.
